Obituary of Gene Szmauz

Gene J Szmauz, age 78, of Hamilton, NJ entered into God's loving care on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at home in the company of friends and family. Born in Olyka, Poland, he immigrated to the United States as a child, and was a life-long Hamilton area resident. Gene was a graduate of Trenton high school and served in the Army Reserves. He was employed by EJ Korvette, Bob Lang's and H&H Appliance as a Sales Associate until his retirement. Gene was a former member of the Baron AA Club and Hamilton Elks Lodge number 22. Predeceased by his parents John and Maria (Tolman) Szmauz, his loving wife Roselie (Valenza) Szmauz and a brother Leon Szmauz; he is survived by his sister, Isabella Huppenthal, two sons, Gene J Szmauz Jr.and wife Sandy, and John C. Szmauz and wife Colleen; two daughters, Lori A Adjami and husband Ron, and Paula M. Cardo and husband Pete; ten grandchildren, Michael and wife Keleigh, Shonna, Johnny, David, Nick, Rachel, Ben, Dylan, Joshua and Amy; one great granddaughter, Lily; and five nephews, Alfie, Roland, Alex, Rick and Chris. The funeral will be held at 8:30 am on Wednesday September 14 at D'Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619 (609)-587-9050. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:30 am on Wednesday, September 14 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3816 E. State Street Ext., Hamilton. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Hamilton. Calling hours will be held Tuesday September 13 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
