Obituary of John Kerr

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Joseph Kerr, 91 formerly of Trenton, NJ put off the frailties and sorrows of this mortal life and entered into God's Kingdom on April 18, 2016, in Salisbury, North Carolina. John was funny, talented, musical, kind, charitable, righteous, and valiant. He could pick up any musical instrument and play any song by ear. He was always quick to light up the room with joke and his smile. During WW II, he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Bright in the Pacific. When tragedy occurred and the fantail of the Bright was struck by a Kamikaze, mortally wounding his fellow shipmates, Petty Officer Kerr served honorable when it counted most. The Bright eventually returned stateside to Portland, Oregon where he met his lovely bride to be, Cecilia Thompson. Even out of the worst of situations the Lord provides a path to immeasurable blessings. He is survived by three children, Eileen & Matthew Sinclair, Jonell Marasco & Ronald & Sharon Kerr; one sister, Veronica Kerr Le Mons; a sister-in-law, Laraine Shoemaker; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 23, 2016 at D'Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619, located in the Brenna Cellini facility.
