Obituary of Nicholas David Durastanti

Nicholas David Durastanti, Jr, 70, of Hopewell Township, entered into God’s care Sunday, August 26, 2018 at his residence. 

 

Born in Trenton, Nick graduated from Trenton Central High (1966) and Boston University (1971) where he played Varsity Football.

 

Prior to his retirements, Nick was employed as an Ironworker with local 68 and the City of Trenton as a firefighter.

 

He enjoyed playing flag football in Hamilton for many years. His passion however was his home in Hopewell Township which he built in 1988. He loved the aesthetic of nature and being able to raise his family in that environment. Nick had such an affinity for his Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and swimming with them in the Delaware River. Above all, he loved his children and grandchildren and cherished being the patriarch of his family.

 

Predeceased by his parents, Nicholas D and Ann (Mastalesz) Durastanti, Sr., his brother and sister-in-law, Armand and Donna (Kennedy) Durastanti, he is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Firlan) Durastanti; his son, Nicholas D. Durastanti, III and wife Elizabeth Teixeira Durastanti; his daughter,  Leah Durastanti and fiancée Toby Pray; his cherished grandchildren, Anna, Joseph and Nicholas, IV; one sister, Karen Willoughby and husband George; his sister-in-law, Barbara Knoblock, his brother-in-law, William Firlan and wife Joy; also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 am on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 44 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ.

 

Private cremation will follow.

 

Calling hours will be Friday, August 31 from 5 pm to 8 pm at D'Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, LLC, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619, located in the Brenna Cellini Facility.
