Obituary of Carmine Battafarano

Carmine F. Battafarano, 94, of Hamilton, New Jersey and Nocara, in Cosenza, Italy where he was raised, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Lyons Veterans Administration Medical Center in New Jersey. Predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Annunziata (Pisilli) Battafarano, he is survived by daughter, Veronica Pirone and husband Anthony and their children Anthony Carmine and Adrianna Nicole; daughter, Ann Annunziata Dello Iacono and husband Alberto and their children Lorenzo and Luca; son, Frank Salvatore Battafarano and his children Justin and Ryan Oliver and Bracie Maynard; son, Carmine Battafarano and wife Joy and their children Chase, Perrin and Tanner; son, Dr. Paul A. Frascella and his children Daniel and James; and son, Pino Colotta and his children. Carmine is survived by one sister, Annabelle Boffa and his nieces, Joyce Fernandez and Linda Okun, and their families. Carmine loved being with his children and grandchildren and cherished the time they spent together. He remained in contact with his many family members and friends in his beloved town of Nocara in Italy. He was very proud of his military service, including serving in Korea during the Korean War in the 179th Tank Co. 45th Division. He was very active with multiple Veterans' organizations and a dedicated life member of Post VFW 3525 where he previously held the high position of Sr. Vice Commander. Carmine also retired from Carpenters Local Union 31, of which he was a long-standing and loyal member. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Trenton. A memorial service will be held from 3 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at D'Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road Hamilton, NJ 08619. Rite of Christian burial will be celebrated at 5 pm in the Chapel and service will conclude with the rendering of Military Honors.
