Obituary of Candido Martinez

HAMILTON - Candido Martinez of Hamilton entered into God's care Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family, he was 80 years old. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, he moved to Trenton in 1955 and had resided in Chambersburg for 42 years, prior to moving to Hamilton. He was employed by the City of Trenton, and Marsilio's Kitchen. Better known to his friends as Chapi or Shorty, Candido's passion was to play dominoes, however he also enjoyed to bowl, and shoot pool with his family and friends. His favorite pastime was taking trips to Atlantic City with his wife. Predeceased by his parents, Eligio and Felipa (Torres) Martinez, his daughter, Sonia Martinez, and his siblings, William Torres, Raul, George, Theofilo (Tito), Luis Angel, Eligio Jr. (Junior), Luis and Gladys Martinez, he is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Eulogia Torres Martinez; six children, Rosemary, Wilberto, Felicita, Miguel (JoEllen), Candido "Nuni" (Carmen), and Judy (BeeJay Cooper) all of Trenton; six siblings, Jaime (Jimmy), and Francis of Trenton, Daniel, Crusita, Carmen and Rafael (Pucho) Martinez of Bayamon, Puerto Rico; 17 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Chambers D'Errico & Correnti Funeral Home, 825 Chambers St., Trenton, NJ 08611. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Angels-Immaculate Conception Church, 540 Chestnut Ave., Trenton. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton. Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
