Rosalbino Pugliese, 92, of Hamilton, entered into God’s loving care on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. 

 

Born in Bisignano, Italy, he emigrated to the United States in 1968 and has been a lifelong area resident.

 

After his arrival from Italy, where he owned a designer shoe and leather goods store, Rosalbino designed and crafted custom and orthopedic shoes for Tommy's Shoe Shop in Pennington. 

 

Rosalbino belonged to the Societa San Francesco di Bisignano and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish-St Joachim’s Church. He enjoyed gardening, including his prized figs and tomatoes, taking trips to Italy and Ocean City and cheering on the Juventus soccer team. Most of all, he treasured the times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

 

Predeceased by his parents, Pietro and Concetta (Straface) Pugliese; five sisters, Rosina Iaquinta, Assunta Fucile, Carmelina Meringolo, Marietta Ammirata and Elvira Laurato; three brothers, Francesco, Giuseppe and Eugenio Pugliese; a great-grandson, Vincenzo Belardo, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michele and Maria (Maruca) Speranza, and his son-in-law, Rino Belardo.  Rosalbino is survived by his loving wife, Francesca (Speranza) Pugliese, who he met at a movie theater and later married in 1954.  He is also survived by his three children, Paola Belardo, Franco Pugliese and wife Sandra; and Loredana Cromarty and husband Geoffrey; seven grandchildren, Robert Belardo and wife Andrea, Steven Belardo, Maggie Pugliese, Marissa Pugliese, Francesca Pugliese, Will Cromarty and Christopher Cromarty; two great grandchildren, Gabriela and Siena Belardo; and many nieces and nephews here and in Italy.

 

Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home, D’Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619, located in the Brenna Cellini facility.

The Funeral will be held 8:45 am Friday, March 8, 2019 at the funeral home. 

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Friday, March 8, at Our Lady of The Angels Parish-St. Joachim's Church, 20-56 Butler Street, Trenton.

Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton, NJ 08610.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rosalbino’s name may be made in support of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Liver and Transplant Management Program.
