Josephine Tagliaferri Scartocci, 94, of Upper Freehold Township, entered into God's Loving Care Monday, May 5, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton. Born in Rome, Italy, she and her family immigrated to the US in 1920 settling in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania where she was raised and educated. In 1940 Josephine and her family moved to Chambersburg section of Trenton where she resided for over 60 years prior to moving with her daughter and son-in-law in Upper Freehold Township. Josie as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was an excellent homemaker and seamstress who enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family and friends. She was a loving devoted person to her family and friends. She was a longtime active member of Our Lady of The Angels Parish-St. Joachim Church, belonging to the Sanctuary Guild, Senior Citizens Club and the One Twenty Club. Josie was also a member of the Societa Romana Femminele Di M.S., in Trenton. Predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Maria (Sandrea) Tagliaferri, her siblings, Joseph Tagliaferri and wife Josephine and Isadore Tagliaferri, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Phyllis Scartocci, Earl Scartocci, Norma Scartocci and Ines Stuver and her loving devoted husband, Elio "Mike" Scartocci, she is survived by her children, Claudia Chiacchio and husband Guy and Craig Scartocci and wife Sandra Maglione-Scartocci; two siblings, Lena Apoldite and Raymond Tagliaferri; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Tagliaferri and Lucia Scartocci; her cherished grandchildren, Cathy Chiacchio- Falsetti and husband Andrew and Dawn Chiacchio; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. The Funeral will be held 8:15 am Friday, May 9, from D'Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619. Please visit derricofuneral home.com. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Friday at Our Lady of the Angels Parish-St. Joachim Church, 22-56 Butler Street in Trenton. Fr. Dennis Apoldite, her nephew will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton. Calling hours will be from Thursday, May 8, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Our Lady of the Angels Parish-St. Joachim Church, 21-23 Bayard Street, Trenton, NJ 08611.
