Obituary of Eugene Carmelo Alcaide

Eugene Alcaide of Florence Township passed away March 13, 2021 at Robert Wood John University Hospital in Hamilton. Born in New York City and moved to Brooklyn where he met the love of his life Judi (Judith Modaffero) and were married for 53 years. Gene as he was affectionately known to his family and friends was a graduate of Elizabeth Seton College. He was formerly employed with Equitable Savings Bank and Bowery Savings and more recently a partner of Bilow Wines and Liquors in East Brunswick, until his retirement. Mr. Alcaide was Past President of the Downtown Lions Club in Brooklyn where he received many rewards for helping the blind. He was a Yankee fan, an avid reader and loved to cook. Gene will always be remembered for his great personality. Predeceased by his parents, Carmelo and Rita Alcaide, he is survived by his wife, Judi Alcaida; his siblings Diana (Joseph) Rotondi, Paul (Theresa) Alcaide, William (Barbra) Alcaide, Gloria Cruz, Francesca Ramos, Anthony Alcaide (Juan Bidot) and numerous nephews, nieces and grand nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday, March 21, 2021 at D’Errico Funeral Chapel, LLC, located in the Buklad Merlino Facility, 30 Yardville Allentown Road, Hamilton, NJ 08620 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a Christian Wake Service being held at 1:30 pm.
