Robert S. Coon â€" 78, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Born in Canaan, Connecticut, he was a resident of Willingboro for the past 45 years. He honorably served in the US Marine Corp as a career veteran for more than 23 years and was the recipient of several medals and awards including the Cbt Air Crew Insignia with 3 stars, Meritorious Mast, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal with 3 stars, Outstanding Performance Certificate, Certificate of Commendation and Certificate of Appreciation. He was later employed by the State of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission in Delran. He had extensive training in emergency medical technology and was a Life Member of the Willingboro Emergency Squad. He was a past District Captain Div. VI with the United States Coastguard Axillary, Flotilla 65 in Burlington. He also served as Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #2391 in Cinnaminson and also served as a 33rd Degree Masonic Member, Bordentown Shrine. Predeceased by his parents, Leon and Helen Ostopko Coon, and brother Leon, he is survived by his twin brother and sister-in-law Samuel R. and Louise Coon of Mercerville, and sister, Joyce Pickering of Wales, Massachusetts, many nieces and nephews, former spouse Annette Coon of East Hartford, Connecticut and dear friend Catherine Bosch. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family under the direction of Chambers Funeral Home.
