Obituary of Carmelo Amantia

Carmelo Amantia, 50, of Jackson Township, entered into God’s Care, July 15, 2014 . Born in the Chambersburg section of Trenton, he lived in the area for 35 years before moving to Jackson Township. Carmelo was owner of Amantia Distributers in Jackson, NJ. He was known as the “Tastycake Kid” when he played softball for Lapidus Market. Carmelo was an avid Yankee fan, loved to spend time with his children and enjoyed a good cigar. Predeceased by his parents Giuseppa (Aquisto) and Michaelangelo Amantia, he is survived by his wife Francesca, a son Michaelangelo, three daughters Giuseppa Maria, Stephanie and Nicoletta Amantia, a brother Michael and wife Amy and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Friday July 18 at Chambers D’Errico and Correnti Funeral Home, 825 Chambers Street, Trenton, NJ 08611. Clergy from the area will be officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Hamilton. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 8:30 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
