Obituary of Yolanda Serrano

Yolanda Serrano, 65, departed peacefully on June 27 with her loving family by her side. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, Yolanda migrated to the Trenton area over 40 years ago where she remained until her passing. Tia Yoly, as she was affectionately known by many of the children, she helped raise was a loving, compassionate, caring and wonderful caretaker. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed making her delicious pasteles for all to enjoy eating. Yoly loved to spend quality time with her grandchildren, and especially enjoyed her weekend gatherings, playing dominoes at her home with family and friends. There was not a moment where Yolanda would not be cracking a joke and laughing. Yolanda was a beautiful person inside and out, who loved her family profoundly and would do anything to make sure they were well cared for. Her passing leaves great sadness and an immense void in many hearts. Predeceased by her parents, Juan Santiago and Camelia Sepulveda; sister, Eva Alvarez; brother, Israel Santiago, she leaves to mourn her passing daughter, Jeannette(Jeannie) Serrano and husband Ferdinand Vasquez; son, Jose A.Garnier and his companion Mariely Torres; her longtime companion, Wilfredo Otero and his children Bianca, Wilfredo Jr, and Eliezer. Yoly also leaves her sisters, Norma (Israel) Cortes, Adalina Santiago and brothers, Noe and Veckman Santiago of Puerto Rico. Her passing is greatly felt by her adoring grandchildren, Javier Berrios, Dysha Garnier, Jerdianiz (Lulu) and Jerliannette (Lala) Vasquez, and grandson to be, Joriel Garnier and her many nieces, nephews and friends who were constantly by her side. Family and friends will gather Friday, July 8, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at D'Errico Funeral Chapel, 30 Yardville Allentown Rd, Hamilton, NJ, located in the Buklad Merlino facility. Christian services will commence at 6pm. A second visitation will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am with a funeral procession leading to her final resting place at Colonial Memorial Park Cemetery, 3039 S. Broad St, Hamilton, NJ 08610.
