Obituary of Amelda Murray

Amelda "Mel" Murray, 82, of Hamilton entered into God's care on Friday, October 3, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lost Creek, Pa., she lived in the Chambersburg section of Trenton for 17 years before moving to Hamilton Township where she resided for the past 41 years. Mel graduated from St. Mary's Nursing School and was employed as a registered nurse with St. Francis Medical Center for 40 years retiring in 1996. She was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with her family and taking trips to the casinos in Atlantic City. Predeceased by her parents, Philip and Josephine (Borusky) Monaghan, a daughter, Jacquelyn Murray, her loving husband of 48 years, John F. "Jack" Murray, her sisters, Catherine Murphy, Marie Callahan, Margaret Laurette, Phyllis Marquardt and a brother, Joseph Monaghan, she is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Doherty and husband Guy of Hamilton and Nelly Thomas and Husband John of Robbinsville; a sister, Patsy McSurdy; a brother Anthony Monaghan; five grandchildren, Jamie Volkert, Jennifer Quirk, John F. Doherty, Ty Thomas and Corey Thomas; her niece and close friend who she spoke to every day, Kitty Pelletiere, also survived by her great grandchildren nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Friday, October 10, 2014 at D'Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, LLC, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, located inside the Brenna-Cellini facility. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
