Obituary of Verda Iorio

Verda Theresa Iorio, of Nevada, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, July 18, 2015, in her home, at the age of 97. A Catholic service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 21, 2015 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 330 N Main St., Nevada, MO. Visitation will precede the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the same location. Verda will be laid to rest next to her late husband, James V. Iorio at a graveside service which will be held at Saint Mary's Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton Township, NJ on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. Born December 24, 1917, in Palo Alto, Pennsylvania to the late Peter and Mary (Ronca) Troilo, Verda was a Trenton, New Jersey resident until 1994. During her time in Trenton, Verda worked for the New Jersey Department of Labor until 1977 and retired after 39 years of dedicated service. Much of her time following retirement, she spent providing assistance to the sick and elderly and volunteering at Hamilton Hospital. She was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church and was active in the church senior citizen program. When she moved to Nevada, Missouri, she was an active member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Verda is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary Ronco Troilo; her husband, James V. Iorio; her brother Francis A. Troilo; her sisters, Venera Troilo and Veturia A. 'Vera' Troilo. She is survived by her two children, Richard Iorio of Trenton, New Jersey and Mary Ann Buzzard of Nevada, Missouri. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dory and Irene Troilo of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law, Rita Troilo of Ashtabula, OH, six grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
