Obituary of Joseph Guerra
~~Joseph “Joe Bear” Guerra, 60, of Hamilton, entered into God’s loving care Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at his residence in Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident. Joe Bear, as he was affectionately known, was a graduate of St. Joachim’s Grammar School, St. Anthony’s High School, Class of 1975 and Rider College.
Joe was formerly employed with RCA Corporation and presently employed with the State of New Jersey Division of Pensions with 29 years of dedicated service.
Joe was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, St. Joachim’s Church and a longtime time member of Chambersburg Little League. He was an avid baseball fan, from professional to little league ball. He devoted much of his time to the youth community coaching for Broad Street Park and Trenton Scroth's of Mercer County American Legion Baseball League. Joe also was a coach for St. Joachim’s Girls CYO basketball team.
In 2013, as part of its 50th year celebration, Trenton Catholic Academy, which includes St. Anthony’s and McCorristin High School, honored 50 of its most outstanding athletes, Joe being honored as one of the top baseball catchers to come out of St. Anthony’s.
Joe Bear, touched the lives of so many people in various ways; he will be remembered by all, as “Everyone’s Friend”.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph A. and Theresa (Chianese) Guerra, he is survived by his brother, Vincent Guerra; also surviving are several cousins and many friends.
The funeral will be held 8:15 am on Tuesday, December 12, from D’Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619, located in the Hamilton Brenna Cellini Facility.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Tuesday at Our Lady of the Angels Parish, St. Joachim’s Church, 20-56 Butler Street, Trenton, NJ 08611.
Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610.
Calling hours will be Monday, December 11 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
